Why do we have Membership Expectations?

Each chapter has specific set standards, or expected behaviors, for the way its members act. These standards include abiding by all national, state, and local laws, as well as UTM and chapter policies. This isn't meant to control you but instead help you grow as a person and student. Standards also include fulfilling financial obligations on time.  CPC also has a set of standards expected of all members in any organization and can be found reflected in our c​reed

New members in their first semester have several required meetings per week. Each organization has new member specific meetings where they deep dive into the history, values, structure, and ritual of their organization. This meeting is usually 1 to 2 hours a week.  Some chapters also require their new members to attend the regular weekly chapter meeting as well. Your first semester, expect to attend 2-3 hours of meetings at minimum. Once you become initiated, you will be required to attend chapter meetings and any committees you may serve on. We also highly recommend you attend CPC meetings as well!

When it comes to sororities at the University of Tennessee at Martin, we're pretty serious about academics. We want our members to really excel in their studies. Over time, the CPC has managed to keep their semester GPA consistently above a 3.0, which is quite impressive. Each chapter provides support through mentorship, peer tutoring, and dedicated study hours. Sometimes, depending on your academic performance, you might even need to do your studying in a supervised setting. On average, Panhellenic chapters allocate about 4 hours per week for study sessions. And here's a tip: many students find that dedicating two hours of study time outside of class for every hour in class helps them stay on top of their coursework

Our organizations want their sisters to be involved in a wide variety of events such as philanthropy events, community service, recruitment, homecoming, and other cool things happening on campus.  We also have other fun events like sisterhoods and social hangouts. These don't happen every week but you're highly encouraged to attend when they do.  On average, Panhellenic chapters host about 2 philanthropy and community service events each month which we want you to attend to help support all the chapters in our community!
