Recruitment: Text

Welcome to the University of Tennessee at Martin!

Starting college comes with so many new experiences, and I am so excited that Panhellenic recruitment may be one of them for you. Recruitment week is about so much more than finding letters to wear — it is about finding a place where you feel encouraged, supported, celebrated, and completely yourself. My hope is that throughout this process, you allow yourself to fully embrace every conversation, every connection, and every moment that comes with it.

As you begin this journey, give yourself grace. It is completely normal to feel excited one minute and nervous the next. Recruitment can be emotional, overwhelming, and exhausting at times, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. Some of the women you meet during this process may become your biggest supporters, your future roommates, your study partners, your bridesmaids, and lifelong friends. The relationships built through Panhellenic life often last far beyond your years at UTM, and that is what makes this experience so meaningful.

One thing I encourage you to focus on during recruitment is how each chapter makes you feel. Pay attention to the conversations that feel genuine, the places where you feel comfortable, and the women who make you feel valued for exactly who you are. It can be easy to overthink every detail, but the most important thing you can do is stay authentic to yourself. You do not need to have the perfect answers or fit into any certain image to belong here. The right chapter will appreciate the qualities that make you uniquely you.

I also hope you take advantage of the incredible support system surrounding you throughout recruitment. Your recruitment counselors are here for every step of this process, and they genuinely want to help make this experience positive for you. Whether you need advice, reassurance, someone to vent to, or simply someone to laugh with at the end of a long day, they are here for you. Lean on them and trust that they truly care about helping you find where you belong.

Most importantly, keep an open heart and an open mind. Sometimes the journey may not look exactly how you expected, but that does not mean it is not leading you somewhere amazing. Trust yourself, trust the process, and know that there is a place for you within this community.

I cannot wait to welcome you all to campus this August and watch you begin such an exciting new chapter. I hope this experience brings you confidence, unforgettable memories, meaningful friendships, and a sense of belonging that stays with you long after recruitment ends.

You are already enough exactly as you are, and I know you are going to do incredible things.

With love and support,
Ada Rogers
