Primary Recruitment

Formal recruitment is the best way to meet women from all four National Panhellenic Conference sororities on UTM's campus. Participation in sorority recruitment allows women the opportunity to connect to the campus community immediately. As soon as the fall semester begins, fun and informational events will be planned for women interested in recruitment to help them meet other Potential New Members (PNMs) and learn more about the process in general. Additionally, each PNM will be placed in small groups with fellow women participating in recruitment. This allows everyone to create bonds and find a support system within the first few days of being on campus. Additionally, each group has two assigned Recruitment Counselors that serve as mentors and provide guidance to women in their group.

A Letter from the
VP of Recruitment
Hey! Welcome to the University of Tennessee at Martin!
I am so thrilled for your interest in our Panhellenic Community. The decision to go through recruitment could be one of the most important decisions you make during your undergraduate years at this university. The recruitment process can bring so many emotions, but I believe it could be one out of the many amazing decisions you will make at UTM, and it is so worth it!
UTM projects a values-based recruitment. Thinking about values and what they mean to you can be overwhelming. Take some time to reflect on what you value and what they mean to you. Understanding your values and what they mean to you will benefit you along your recruitment process. Recruitment is a time to help you determine if your values align with a chapter’s values. I encourage you to hold these values to your heart and keep them in your mind during recruitment, so that you can determine which chapter where you would like to call home. This isn’t just for the next four years, but for the rest of your life.
During your recruitment process, take the time to gain a relationship with your recruitment counselors. These young group of women have graciously given up their own letters to help you find yours. They want to be a mentor to you, but also a friend. They are there to help you answer any questions, over how to make a tough decision or what outfits to wear. They are even there to be a shoulder for you to cry on, laugh away the nerves, or just be there to help you relax. This process should also be exciting! Which leads to my next point. Get to know the other women in your group. These women could potentially run home with you on Bid Day, be excited to see you run home to another chapter or become some of your best Panhellenic friends.
Lastly, I want to lift your spirits. YOU GOT THIS!! This process can be fun, emotional, exciting, and exhausting all at the same time. Just keep pushing and keep an open mind, and it will be Bid Day before we all know it! As a senior writing this, I truly still remember my Bid Day, and it was during our Covid-19 Pandemic, so my experience was completely different! Bid Day is a day that you will remember forever. I encourage you to trust the process and keep an open mind. If you hold your values to your heart and be your true authentic self, you will end up right where you need to be!
I am so excited to meet all your pretty faces this August. I hope you are all super excited for this new journey to begin. I sincerely hope through this experience you learn your values, make lifelong friends, and trust the process with an open mind. You are going to do amazing things!
Panhellenically,
Kayla
